20.04.13 U12girls/ REDDITCH UTD 0 LEAMINGTON HIBERNIAN 0

Todays game was one of few chances with both teams evenly matched. Redditch have had a major turnaround in recent weeks becoming one of the inform teams of the league even beating top of the table Sutton Utd last week. A tough game was on the cards and we were welcomed by a rare showing of sunshine.

Hibs earliest chance came in the first five minutes when Demii had a shot blocked by a Redditch defender and Demii was involved again when her corner flew over everyone in the box it found Lauryn on the edge who's first time half volley went left of the post. Redditch were also pressing and Alanah and Molly were working well to keep there forward quiet. When she did break through Courtney was on hand to make a save. Hibs began moving the ball around well and a great passing move between Hollie, Lauryn and Chloe was the highlight. Hibs had a big chance on 29minutes to take the lead after a Redditch defender handled in the box it was Tayla's turn to take the penalty and she hit it hard low and central, unfortunately the keeper didn't move and saved well.

The second half became a somewhat scrappy affair with lots of throws and never really had any flow to the game. Nat came the closest to scoring but her effort went over the bar. Courtney made some crucial saves one being a one on one with Redditch's forward which along with her many other stops earnt her the player of the match award for keeping another clean sheet. Probably the right result in the end and Hibs remain in 6th place.

06.04.13 U12girls/ LEAMINGTON HIBERNIAN 3 RUSHALL UTD 3

Another goalfest at the Comyn with six goals being shared between the two sides. Third placed Rushall were the visitors who were on an incredible run of form which had seen them win there last ten matches. After the slightly disappointing result last week against another in form side Kidderminster Lions the girls were determined to give there all in this one, and they surprised the visiting side with a blistering start and controlling the game for the opening ten minutes. With the girls in midfield passing the ball around Hibs got the ball into the box for Hollie to try and get a shot in but was blocked by a Rushall player, it rolled kindly out to Nat who's long range effort was stabbed over the bar. Nat was too be involved again as Hibs took a deserved lead, a throw in down the left side from Nat was thrown into the box and Chloe connected and steered it under the keeper into the net for the opener. Molly then who had come on for Chloe was too get involved straight away and made a run down the right wing. Rushall managed to get back into the game despite some strong defending from Alanah and Courtney the ball dropped to a Rushall player to tap in to level up. Hibs continued to play and were unlucky not to make something happen from a couple of balls played forward to Demii who had replaced Hollie upfront and Tayla who had come on for Nat. Hibs retook the lead with a superb individual effort from Lauryn. Her corner didn't beat the defender at the near post  but when cleared came back out to Loz and with time and space sent a great cross/shot into the box that missed everyone and ended up in the bottom corner taking the keeper by surprise. Rushall then started to show there quality and a had a sustained amount of pressure that led to the equalising goal right on the half time whistle. The second half was now finely poised and Hibs who we are used to now play better after the break began brightly again using the space around the pitch and picking out passes especially down the lines to find Jodie and Tayla. Hibs were then to take the lead for a third time when another long throw from Nat ended up at Hollie's feet and she placed the ball into the bottom corner. Rushall again picked up there game and every girl had to defend with Molly and Chloe making some important tackles and Jodie, Loz and Tayla getting back to help it was backs against the wall. A series of corners caused trouble and Courtney managed to stop most of them but one which smashed against the crossbar luckily for Hibs. Courtneys long goal kicks tried to set up counter attacks for Hollie to run onto and she and Loz linked up well on a couple of occassions. One counter could of wrapped the game up as Tayla burst down the left and had Hollie and Loz in the middle and one defender to beat however the Rushall player made a great block. A long shot from Nat was collected by Rushall keeper. Rushall levelled once again and Demii and Alanah were sent on with fresh legs to sturdy the defence. The ref called time on what was a superb performance and a well earned point. COYH!!!!

GOALS: CHLOE, LAURYN, HOLLIE

30.03.13 U12girls/ LEAMINGTON HIBERNIAN 3 KIDDERMINSTER LIONS 4

On a bitterly cold saturday morning/afternoon Hibs and Lions met in an enthralling seven goal contest that favoured the visiting side and kept there great run of form going. Having won there last four games Kidderminster were on a superb run that has lifted them up the table.

The game began brightly enough with both sides in the feeling out process there was no clear cut chances untill Nat played a through ball to Jodie who's advancing run was thwarted by the keeper saving her shot. However Hibs switched off from Courtneys goal kick and Lions took advantage to take the lead. As Hibs tried to get back into the game Lauryn made a couple of nice runs down the right taking on the Lions defence but seeing her shot sail over the bar. Hibs then paid the price for not switching on again as a copycat of the first goal increased the Lions lead. It now really was going to be an uphill battle and the defence edged forward to support the midfield, Molly made a couple of great tackles on successive Lions players never giving up on the ball and managed to play it out to Lauryn whose run down the wing was blocked by a Lions defender. The resulting corner from Alanah found Nat who steered the ball over the bar. Hibs then found a way back into the game after good work from Alanah who got to the touchline and played the ball into the path of Demii for a tap in. Lana and Demii then linked up well again along with Nat showing some nice passes and moving into space. Lions attacked again and managed to increase the lead yet again in what was a tough first half. Before the break Demii scored her second of the game to keep Hibs in with a fighting chance.

As the girls have done on numerous occasions this season the second half was a much better perfomance but still with the mammoth task of clawing another goal back. It was a more dominant display but before the equalising goal came there was a corner again from Lana that again found Nat who again could only fire over the bar but the goal was coming. Jodie in the right place at the right time fired past the keeper and now the game was well and trully on. The returning Chloe was having a great first game back after injury and found herself between two Lions defenders and in on goal but the keeper was once again able to prevent Hibs scoring. Another shot came from distance when Tayla made a run and wasn't closed down so unleased a left foot bomb that went wide of the target. Then just to sum things up Alanah found herself with plenty of time to look up and shoot from outside the box, the ball beat the keeper but not the post and as the ball span up into the air it clipped the keeper on the ankle and went out for a corner when it could of easily found it's way into the net. It wasn't all Hibs in the second half and there was the defence still needed to keep on there toes. Tayla, Demii and Molly stood solid and on one Lions attack Molly tracked the Lions forward from the halfway line to the touchline before making a fantastic block. A Lions corner nearly found it's way into the net but not for a great right handed save from Courtney pushing the ball over the bar. The second almost identical corner was caught this time by Courtney. Lions winning goal caught Hibs on the break and the Lions player finished well in the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Still Hibs pressed and as time came to an end a last ditch attack with everyone bar Courtney in the Lions box resulted in a scramble which Lions managed to clear.

In what was a really exciting game Hibs were made to pay for there sloppyness by a hard working Lions side who are enjoying a fine run of form. Eight games left of the season can Hibs go on a run of form themselves and finish on a high.

GOALS: Demii (2) Jodie
POM: Chloe

16.03.13 U12girls/ LIGHTWOODS LIONS 3 LEAMINGTON HIBERNIAN 1

Todays encounter was a close call between two teams seperated by one point and one position in the table. When both sides met in december it was Lions who took the points in what was another close game. It was Lions who would start brightest creating alot of chances in the opening 15minutes and pegging the Hibs girls back into there own half. The Hibs to there credit tho defended superbly with everyone getting back and helping out. When Hibs were able to break on the counter they came dangerously close to opening the scoring with Tayla, Hollie and Loz passing the ball around it gave Tayla time to unleash a couple of long shots that were not short of going in. As Natalie launched her long throws upfield Hibs were able to also set up attacks but without threatening. Despite some bright moments during the half there was also times where Hibs didn't switch on and Lions deservedly took the lead on one of those occasions. The Lions second goal before the break tho was pure class and had to be admired as they passed the ball from one end of the pitch to the other and a cross into the box was met at the back post for a tap in. Half time arrived and at two nil down it was important for Hibs to get the next goal and really make a game of it. The seven girls had to dig deep and battle against the weather as well as tiredness as the rain began to fall. The second half produced a much better dispay and some great passing moves and some solid defending especially by Molly and Demii. We managed to spend more time in the Lions half and had a succession of corners that were well delivered by Demii but collected by the Lions keeper. A slightly fortunate decision or if i was a premiership manager (i didn't see it so can't comment) led us to get a penalty kick. Up stepped Loz and smashed it into the top corner, game on but with time running out we were nearly caught on the break a couple of times as the girls pushed forward. Courtney making a great one handed stop to keep us in the match. A Demii free kick was well defended and as full time approached a cross into the box was just slightly too far ahead of Hollie to get onto.

GOALS: Lauryn
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Natalie

02.03.13 U12girls/ CASTLEVALE 0 LEAMINGTON HIBERNIAN 5

It was a welcome and comfortable return to winning ways for Hibs after last weeks loss and as an added bonus a second clean sheet of the season. The game began a scrappy contest as both teams tried to settle down and get some momentum going in the early stages. The game was to favour Hibs from set pieces as all three first half goals came from corners. The first from Natalie was smashed into the bottom corner as CastleVale could only clear as far as the edge of the box and a few minutes later a almost similar goal came from Demii as her shot also went in hard and low. The third from Hollie was pounced on from inside the area to give the girls a well earned lead into the break. It was a more dominent display by the visitors in the second half but Hibs found it harder to score with CastleVales keeper making some fine saves. When the fourth goal did come it was worth the wait as the movement and the pass was the best of the game and even had the referee congratulating the girls for it. As Loz picked up the ball and made a run into the middle of CastleVales half she looked like she was going to pass it out wide to Tayla but instead played a great ball between two defenders for Hollie to run onto and finish superbly well. The fifth rounded things off as Hollie directed Nats long throw into the net with a great turning volley for her hattrick. A great allround display with every player working hard as a team and being alot more vocal than normal communicating well with each other. Demii was awarded player of the game for what had to be her best match in a Hibs shirt.

23.02.13 U12girls/ LEAMINGTON HIBERNIAN 1 SUTTON UTD 3

Hibs put in a superb effort and battled extremely well as they welcomed the league leaders to Newbold. When the girls took on Sutton back in October it's fair to say that they didn't play to the standard we are becoming used to seeing from them so this was a good chance to see if the girls could rise to the challenge. The majority of the first half had Hibs defending from every part of the pitch as Sutton attacked relentlessly for long periods. Courtney had most of Suttons shots covered but the one that beat her was hit well and from some distance as Hibs failed to close the player down they gave her plenty of room to unleash an unstoppable shot. Hibs managed to get a couple of shots in with Alanah and Hollie testing the keeper and there was some neat passing on occasions but the half belonged to the visitors so the whistle came as a relief and a much needed rest. When the second half began it wasn't long before Sutton extended the lead and now Hibs had a real fight on there hands. After winning the last three and having not been beaten this year the girls continued to attack and actually started to move the ball around a lot better. When Hibs won a corner Demii floated a ball in that beat everyone and fell kindly to Hollie who headed into an empty net for her 9th goal of the season. Hibs were enjoying a spell of pressure and Suttons keeper was making some fine saves, sadly for the home side tho the equaliser did not come and as full time approached Sutton confirmed the win with a third.

16.02.13 U12girls/ LEAMINGTON HIBERNIAN 3 MARSTON GREEN 1

Finally after a lengthy break, football took over on a saturday morning and again the Hibs girls put on a performance that typified how good they are as a team. With a depleted team and a couple of players struggling with injuries we were down to the bare bones. Marston Green were the visitors and having narrowly beaten them back in January with a full and healthy side it would of been natural to assume that getting anything from this game would be a bonus. So no real surprise as the first half was mainly controlled by Marston and when they took the lead middway through the first half it added an extra challenge to Hibs to contend with. Hibs had a couple of chances and were starting to get closer to an equaliser. As the girls were about to be welcomed by the noise of the half time whistle and a well earned break they took one more attack to Marston and Loz fired in a deadly shot/cross which fell to Hollie who just had to direct the ball into the corner to draw the girls level. The second half was more of an even contest and Courtney produced a couple of fine saves to keep Marston out. Hibs took the lead when the ball fell kindly to Hollie to score her 8th of the season. There was still plenty to do and the whole team defended well, nothing more was getting past Molly and Tayla, and with Alanah covering every blade of grass and every clump of mud we set off on another attack which Jodie took into the box and finished superbly to put the game out of reach for the visitors. Loz came very close on a couple of occasions as well just firing over the bar. However Courtney was awarded by the rest of the team as the player of the game it could easily of gone to anyone of them as they were all amazing today and should feel extremely proud.
